What you will be doing

The role of the Business Development Manager is to support and achieve the annual sales plans of the business and provide lead generation to meet its goals. The focus will be quantity and quality of leads provided.

The role will involve managing an existing and recruiting into the telemarketing team, generating new business leads and developing people.

The Business Development Manager will coach and develop their team and in line with our career paths, the Manager will be incentivised to promote Business Development Executives into Account Managers.

Additionally, you will:

· Recruit, onboard, manage, develop, motivate and retain a Business Development/Telemarketing team who create leads and opportunities for our Solutions and Managed Services Teams.

· Support the Sales Director to execute the annual plan (that you will be a key part in the design of). ​

· Identify and proactively pursue valuable business opportunities to generate marketing qualified leads.

· Strengthen relationships between Vendors and Sales functions through collaboration on common goals; resulting in higher number of marketing qualified leads generated.

· Set clear team/individual targets and SMART objectives, and forecast accurately quarter to quarter over a full year.

· Demonstrate product and solution knowledge and to have an awareness of current industry and technological trends and advancements.

· Utilise sector experience to evaluate opportunities with applicable Products and Services and understand market trends within the sector.

· Hold a ‘Lead from the front’ mentality and support the team with conversions and presentations.

· Identify customer’s needs and challenges.

· Understand the product benefits and advantages, prepare strategies according to it and be able to execute those strategies at the right time.

· Have responsibility for dealing with and resolving any individual and team customer complaints.

· Support the businesses culture and expected behaviours.

· Monitor activity across sales team utilising CRM and other tools, ensuring the sales activity of the team are met.

· MI/Reporting all information to relevant persons/departments/stakeholders.

· Support HR in the development and execution of a people and skills plan to ensure adequate resource in line with agreed organisational structure.

· Have overall responsibility for delegating and managing all team workloads.

· Be responsible for approving holiday requests; flexible working requests and any other employee related issue or request.

· Have responsibility for assessing training needs for the team.

· Attend events to represent the Company, network and identify/nurture potential prospects.


· Proven managerial experience in leading a sales team.

· Ability to understand and apply market intelligence to sales strategy.

· Experience in recruitment and building teams, using established contacts in the industry to aid this process.

· Previous sales experience within the IT industry.

· Knowledge of the IT hardware, services and solutions.

· At least 2 years’ experience coaching and training.

· Minimum of 3 years’ working within a lead generation environment.

· Good understanding of marketing techniques and their application.

· Good understanding of the channel from vendor to reseller and the different operating models.
